Rev. Alexander Purnomo (Pastor/Minister)
For Alex, much of Christian life is about following the Lord Jesus faithfully and cross-culturally. He was born and raised in a Chinese family in Indonesia with Roman Catholic upbringing, among friends from diverse backgrounds. But he didn’t make a personal commitment to Jesus before his early 20's in a house church in Munich, Germany, while studying there, where he first learnt the wonder of the gospel of Jesus Christ and its transforming impact on people's lives, including his.
Alex went on to work with a few multinational companies in Germany, Singapore and Indonesia for a few years, during which he continued to experience spiritual growth in diverse evangelical churches. After migrating to Australia with his wife Cindy, he trained at Moore Theological College in Sydney, followed by 3 years as a minister in the multi-ethnic, South Western part of Sydney. There he was involved in planting a church in Green Valley with a team from Sadleir Anglican Church. In July 2011 he moved to Doonside Anglican Church, succeeding the retired Rev. Jerryl Lowe.
Alex and Cindy have a young daughter named Madeleine. They enjoy eating and cooking, exploring new places, getting to know people from diverse backgrounds, watching movies, and reading good books.
Although Rev Purnomo leads Doonside Anglican's services, Bible Study groups and other public activities, a vital part of the leadership team is the committee. The committee consists of the church wardens and selected members of the congregation. The committee meets monthly to discuss current and future events at Doonside Anglican, and ensures the smooth running of our programs now and into the future.
